An Interview

This is an interview between me and the pre-school prefect for 2006-2007 academic year.
RICHMOND KWAME ASANTE .http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000879980943

Eddy: KWAME, HOW DOES FEEL TO BE A SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: Very great especially when you happen to be in a school like Komfo Anokye.

Eddy: HOW DID YOU BECOME A SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: Ahhh, initially I had wanted to contest for the office of prep prefect but I was advised by my school father who happened to be the boy’s prefect to contest for the position of school prefect. Not just him, I was advised by the assistant headmaster, and even the bursar to run for the office of school prefect. I listened to their advice and that is how I became the school prefect.

Eddy: WHAT WAS MAJOR PRIORITY WHEN YOU CAME TO OFFICE AS THE SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: I had a lot of priorities but enforcing the rule of law was the topmost one. In my first speech as the school prefect, I told the entire student body, that never again will anybody harass them and I sworn to myself that under no circumstances will my administration infringe upon the rights of any student.

Eddy: WHAT MADE YOU SUCCESSFUL AS A SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: I was successful because the students understood the democratic principles and policies I made. My colleague’s prefects also knew what was expected of them and they lived up to expectation. Each one of them was a master in his own way.

Eddy: TALKING ABOUT YOUR PREFECTS, WHO WILL YOU SAY WAS AN OUTSTANDING FIGURE DURING YOUR TERM AS, THE SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: Hmmmmmmmmmmm, this is a very difficult question. In my opinion, I think the sports prefect; Amos Fynn was the outstanding figure. He always finished every task I gave him before deadline. He always had a second plan when the first plan seems not to be working. He was excellent.

Eddy: YOU WEPT ON THE DAY YOU HANDED OVER THE POSITION OF SCHOOL PREFECT, WHAT WAS THE CRY FOR?
KWAME: Ahhhh, I must confess it was an emotional moment for me. When I entered the auditorium I remembered every single promise I made when I was campaigning to be the school prefect. Though most of the promises were done, I had one more wish; to register Komfo Anokye as member of the Ashanti Region Student Representative Council. I could not hold back when one of the master’s told me “ you are irreplaceable” then the entertainment prefect elect came to me and said “good job senior, even the heavens bear witness to your leadership skills, we will forever miss you” I started crying.

Eddy: DID YOU FOR ANY MOMENT REGRET BEING THE SCHOOL PREFECT?
KWAME: Never did I regret being the school prefect. However there were certain times I became very frustrated. I knew the responsibilities of the position before I signed up for. I knew it was not going to be easy. I must confess that, I enjoyed the position very well.

Eddy: WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE DAY IN YOUR PREFECT SHIP?
KWAME: Hahahahahaha, Komfo Anokye High School festival 2006 (Kahifest 2006). I really miss that day. I was at my best. The atmosphere was nice; I mean everything was very nice.

Eddy: WHAT WORDS DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS OF KOMFO ANOKYE WHO HAVE THROWN THEIR WEIGHTS BEHIND YOU ALL THIS TIME?
KWAME: May the almighty God bless them all. Please be good ambassadors of komfo anokye. Brighten the corner where you are. Just like you supported me to be successful, I want you guys support me towards the formation of the old students association. Thanks everyone.
